5 Tips for Running Multiple Social Media Accounts

Managing more than one social media account

The days of having only a personal social media account are over. Whether you are an influencer managing accounts for yourself and for collaborators, or you run multiple accounts for work, it can be overwhelming to keep content organized and flowing. There are plenty of tips, tricks, and tools to help manage your accounts, increase your followers, develop connections with sponsors, and grow your brand. Here we offer five tips for running multiple social media accounts.

1. Develop a Social Media Strategy

New influencers should take the time to determine what their brand is. Are you interested in fitness? Maybe fashion is more your game. Perhaps you are passionate about a cause that you want to share with the world. Having a clear identity will help you as you switch between accounts.

Once you’ve identified your brand, you need to decide what are you trying to achieve with your social media accounts. Who are you trying to reach? Before you embark on managing multiple accounts, you should develop a social media strategy so that you are clear about what you are doing with each account. If you are managing two similar accounts, you want to make sure you have a clear boundary between the two. If you are not the only one contributing to the account, you want to make sure that everyone follows the same policies and procedures for a cohesive style.

2. Take Advantage of Social Media Software

Toggling between different social media accounts can be frustrating, from remembering different passwords to logging in on mobile devices. Luckily software is available to make it easier for you to manage your logins for different accounts. Services such as sso providers allow you to log in to your social media accounts and other software with a single sign-on. This cuts out the work of accessing your accounts so you are able to focus on the content. There are also tools out there to schedule your content for you, so if you like to plan ahead and let technology take care of the rollout for you, you should investigate them.

3. Create a Calendar of Scheduled Content

The best way to keep track of your social media content is to plan it out. Create a monthly calendar for each account and write out what you want to post over the course of the month. If you are doing a collaboration or sponsored content, you want to make sure that you have it as your main content and work around it. Planning your content will also help you make sure you have a photographer when you need one as well as any items you need to purchase.  If you struggle with coming up with content day to day, having a plan will make your work easier. All you’ll have to do is follow the schedule and get your content out to your followers.

4. Analyze Follower Engagement

Whether you are running your own social media accounts or a business’s, you want to be sure that your followers are seeing your posts and are feeling engaged. Which posts are getting the most likes and comments? Is there content that is being reposted by other accounts? This is the information you need to know if when planning what you are going to be posting about in the future. If you are looking to do new sponsored content or a collaboration with another account, the knowledge you have of who your followers are and what they respond to is what companies will be looking for when deciding to team up with you. Who your followers are will help you determine what your account is about.

5. Monitor Your Accounts

If you have done all of the steps above, all you really need to do is monitor your accounts. Keep track of who’s responding to your posts. Reply to any direct messages you might get. Build relationships with your followers. The more engaged you are, the more they will respond to that and your accounts will keep growing. Monitoring in real-time rather than just relying on analytics will allow you to see immediately how your followers respond to your posts. You can therefore adjust as you go and your accounts will be dynamic and exciting.

Being a social media influencer and managing multiple accounts is a time-consuming job, but there are tools and tips to make it easier for you. Take advantage of all the different software that is available to do the tedious work for you so that you can focus on the fun and creative side of social media. You’ll be able to make new connections with potential sponsors, as well as grow your audience and create genuine relationships with your followers.
